Ep 25 – Jonathan Tilley – Finding Your Unique Voice as an Artist

Hey Photogs! Everyone is different and everyone has their own unique style, even if you don’t know it yet. But how do you find it when you’re first starting out? And why should you have it instead of just doing what’s popular? Mike is talking with Jonathan Tilley, a repeat guest, about the importance of being a unique artist, how to find your style, and going after the client that fits into your ‘island’.

More About our Guest Speaker: At 30, Jonathan Tilley was a musical theater and a voice over actor. But, in 2010 he began coaching fellow creatives on the business side of show business, turning his knowledge into online courses like League Of List Builders and Website Makeover Masterclass. And after 2 years of gathering over 2000 pieces of research on what success and failure feels like, in 2017 he released his book “Embrace The F Word: Failure to the world”. You can visit him at jonathantilley.com/legend.

Discussion Topics:

  • Your style is part of your brand.
  • Trying to be something you’re not get you very far.
  • Clients are willing to pay more for a unique style.
  • You can turn clients away from your ‘island’ to let in the clients you want to attract.
